Genius Blog 7. Julia

I liked seeing the presentations. It was fun to see what other people had been working on. I am working with Ande. For the holiday market we were going to do art on a board with nails and string. We then decided to do can art. Then we wanted to do various jar things. Now we are doing jar lights and candles. We are doing glow in the dark.

Genius hour 7

This week we had two genius hours. That is why I am making two blog entries this week. This week, I finished up my game so it was good for showing off. It was also kind of buggy with switching levels. It also had a bug where it would show a leader board which was my original idea. I deleted everything but the core assets for the leader board. It would still show up, but very rarely now. I think it is finished now. I based it off of the game Geometry Dash but I changed lots of elements of the game play. I would probably have been able to make it more distinct if I had more time than 7 days.

Genius Hour 7

This week during genius hour, people presented their projects.  I thought Amaan had a really cool project and the ice cream was delicious.  I also thought Cameron had a really cool and original game. The scripts must have been really hard to write. I thought Evan and Ande had a really cool project as well.  The only problems they had arose from time limitations.  My project was well received and I got a thumbs up from the class.  I can't wait to start our winter market project soon.

So, I finally presented my project last Thursday (I think). Last Wednesday I worked on my homework/ languages. I didn't get to do much since I was done with my skirt. I really love it! I really like the fabric that I picked out. I'm going to have to hand wash it, though. By the way, I never got to making fabric flowers because I lost my fabric glue. I might try making them later.

Genius Hour 7 - EVAN BaRtEk

This last week for Genius Hour, we finished our project. First Ande and I recorded the last part that we needed for the song. Then I realised that the vocals track was offbeat. This was because we used the real song for the vocals and a fake "instrumentals" for the other ones. Then while editing the video together, they, of course, didn't sync up. Also, the audio and video didn't sync up because of the before mentioned problems. I tried to fix this by tuning down some of the tracks so it wasn't so chaotic. I also tried matting the tracks together and this helped tremendously.  Finally, on Friday, we presented and got a lot of positive feedback about how we did even with so many problems.

Genius Hour No. 7 Jack Donnelly

For genius hour today I worked mostly on testing. To test my product I tried lots of different kicking techniques. This included volleying shooting and hard passing. My product passed all the trials perfectly. I then trimmed the bungee cord. To trim the bungee cord I used scissors to cut a section of the bungee rope off then re-tie It. I then tested my product again. The knot that held the bungee rope together was slipping so I re-tied it again.

This week me and Cole worked on our cube. We had to sticker it very fast so it didn’t come out that well but it still worked fine. The cube turns really great compared to some of our other mods. We also presented our mods this week. Hayden Cameron and I also found out how we are going to make the Sheridan sauce and how much it will cost to make.

This week evan, amaan, and I decided what we wanted to do for Holiday market

We decided we wanted to make foam swords for little kids. They would be like nerf swords, with pvc pipe in the middle with pool noodles that we shape on the outside of the pvc pipe. This idea has not yet been approved, but we are talking to Ms.D about it. Also, Harsha and I stickered our bandage mod, and we spent zero time on it, so it looks pretty bad. I got a lot done this week, and I'm ready for Holiday Market.

Genius Hour #7

Two days ago we had our last genius hour for this project. I didn't finish my book in class so I had to finish it after school. I think it turned out pretty well even though the drawings weren't great. I was supposed to present today but we ran out of time. So I will be presenting my book on monday.

In genius hour I had finished my project already. I worked on science homework. I enjoyed watching Harsha and Cole work on their project. They were stickering their cubes. Since I am already finished, I am just waiting to present.

This week I need to start to prepare for my ice cream. So I went out on the weekend to buy supplies. But the only thing I can not do yet is buying dry ice. I need the dry ice because I need it to prevent the ice cream from melting on the car ride here. I lived about 45 minutes away so the dry ice is essential. I also need to finish making the ice cream which I plan to make today. But until Friday I will make the ice cream and edit a video about how to make ice cream. Hopefully, it will turn out ok.

I just finished researching. I also finished writing too. So I need to finish making the ice cream and editing which I have not started yet. So I can not do anything in class until I go home and start making it. I am planning to make strawberry ice cream. Also ice cream takes a couple of hours to make. And that will take a lot of my time but it will be worth it. So please enjoy when you get it.

genius hour #6 blog from camey

last week we did another genius hour in this genius hour i did more programming for my game it was boring the reason it was boring is because i had to make code for all parts and then copying was a nightmare also because it takes a long time to program multiple levels each piece had to have different but similar code so it sucked copying and pasting from piece to piece i listened to memes while i worked it helped me be more productive i recommend that everyone watch memes while they work

This week during genius hour I brainstormed what else I could make on scratch.  I helped jack test out his item for a few minutes, before getting back to work. I looked at some of the recommended projects to do on scratch, but none of them looked appealing to me.  I decided to add more questions to my rubik's cube quiz. I put in a question about fish spamming.  I am praying that Cole recovers from his disease soon.  I also added questions about the origin of the rubik's cube and different solving methods.  I can't wait to share my projects on thursday or friday.
This week Cameron Hayden and I decided on what we were gonna do during the holiday market. We are planning on making Szechuan sauce. Cole and I are almost done with our last cube and are going to sticker it this last genius i is hour

I'm finally done sewing my skirt (it only took two days). I originally wanted to make my skirt a solid color and add things on it (like fabric flowers), but I ended up not buying solid color fabric. My grandmother helped me since she was in town. First we pinned the pattern on, then we cut it, sewed things together, sewed more, then the next day we ironed it and sewed more. I might make a fabric flower and sew it on. It took a lot less time than I thought it would, Chloe

For genius hour i worked on permanently securing the ball in the net. I added more bungee cords to the net to make it tighter and more secure. Then to make it easier to use i took some length off of the cord. The cord attached the net around the ball to the waist belt and was elastic. it was elastic so that if you kicked the ball it would come right back to you. Then i worked on adjusting the velcro. The velcro attached the waistbelt to the long bungee cord. i worked on making the velcro tighter and more secure.

Genius hour #6- Getting The Freaking Computer To Work

Last week we had some difficulties with the computer, that is to say, the software on the computer we were using wouldn't take videos, only pictures. We messed with the computer  a bit (it was Evan's, don't freak out) and even tried downloading new software, but it still wouldn't record. Only after all this (which took abut the time of the whole class) did we think to restart the computer. Of course, after this, it worked just fine, and we had enough time left to record a single track. Evan and I are almost done now and shouldn't have any problems finishing by the deadline. -Ande

Genius Hour 6-Julia

For this genius hour I illustrated my book. I have been illustrating my book for the past genius hours. I am exited to see other peoples genius things. I am coloring my book with colored pencil. I am going over the words with pen. It will be fun to be done with my book. For the market Ande and I are doing designs with string and nails. We might use the art room to work on them.

Genius Hour #6

On Wednesday we had our sixth genius hour. Since this rotation of genius hour is almost over soon my book will done. I still have to do some drawings. I think I have a done a good job on the book. I'm excited to finish it and see my completed project.

Genius Hour #6

In this week's genius hour, I finished my project. Since I finished early, Harsha, Cameron, and I brainstormed for the holiday market. We had some pretty good ideas. I am not going to say this so somebody else does not steal our idea. I have learned a lot about baseball from this project. I learned about Alexander Cartwright and Abner Doubleday who impacted baseball. It is nice to know more about the sport. I am looking forward to presenting this in a couple weeks.

genius hour 6 - Evan BaRteK

Last week's genius hour, I feel, was only semi-productive. I say this because Ande and I had some minor, yet impactful technical difficulties. The main problem was that the recording software on my computer would not record. It would take pictures and record audio but it wouldn't record. This meant that it wasn't my computer's hardware that was the problem, but the software. I then tried to download a different recorder but this one had the same problem as the last. We then had the genius idea of restarting the computer, and guess what! It worked! After that, we had about 10 minutes left in which we recorded one track. Now we have three out of five tracks done before the due date, so I think that things are looking good, though the mishap did not help.

This week during genius hour I worked on a rubik's cube quiz.  It is 5 questions long and multiple choice.  When you finish the sprite who helped you spazzes all over the place along with the back ground.  The quiz includes questions about algorithms and WCA competitions.  I am trying to come up with ideas for new games.  Any suggestions in the comments of this will be really helpful. Unless they aren't helpful. I also made some changes to my other games to make them better.                                                                              -Ben
This week we made a octagonal barrel cube and we also made a fidget spinner cube. We also finished a new cube which we named the wheel barrel. We still need to make 2 1x1s. We started working on cutting our stickers for our bandage cube mod also.

This week I worked on my book. It is fun. I am looking forward to doing more illustrations. I will work hard to get it done. I am doing colored pencil for my coloring. I am exited to see other projects. Lil'T is a good book. I am only making one copy.
