Ben-Genius Hour of 8/23/17
Last Wednesday during genius hour, I brainstormed some ideas, until eventually coming up with my current one. I decided that over the course of this genius hour period that I was going to use Scratch or another program to create a multi-level video game. During the rest of the period I played with some of the commands on scratch and tried to figure out how some of it works. I also thought of ideas about what different levels could look like. Some ideas I came up with are: An enemy chasing you through somewhat of a maze, an enemy moving randomly around the arena and cloning itself every few seconds for increasing difficulty, and a multiple choice quiz level. One of the main difficulties will be getting it to change levels, or automatically restart the current level if you fail. The only thing that kind of disappointed me was that WASD, the most common keyboard layout for video games doesn't work well on scratch. After last week I feel pretty comfortable with scratch and I am excited to use it again next Wednesday.
This sounds like a great idea that explores your own interest. Perhaps you could try arrow keys.
